What was going on in the Bernabéu parking lot? After the 2: 3 against Villarreal, Real professional Federico Valverde is said to have punched an opponent in the face. The incident is now with the police.
After the allegations of violence surrounding the 3-2 victory at Spanish soccer champions Real Madrid, Villarreal professional Álex Baena has filed a complaint. The midfielder decided to report the attacker to the police after the assault, Villarreal said. The newspapers “AS” and “Marca” had reported that Real professional Federico Valverde had punched Baena in the face in the parking lot of the Bernabéu Stadium. Neither Valverde nor Real have officially commented on the allegations.
Valverde’s entourage said in a statement quoted by the newspaper “Marca” that Baena had made provocative statements to Valverde several times in previous games. “Fede never has problems with anyone. This case was about something very serious that happened a long time ago,” the paper quoted as saying. The radio station “Cadena Ser” reported, citing the Real player’s environment, that Baena had previously insulted Valverde and, among other things, made fun of his recently born second son. Baena denied that. “It is completely untrue that I said that,” he tweeted.
Villarreal and Baena only reported one physical attack without giving any details. The 21-year-old Spaniard was physically attacked on the way to the team bus, the club said. The association wanted to express its rejection of any kind of violence once again. He believes in his player’s version and will accompany him through the process, the statement said. “Very saddened by the aggression I suffered after the game,” Baena wrote on Twitter.
