Olivier Véran was the guest of Europe 1 this Friday morning. At the microphone of Dimitri Pavlenko, the new government spokesman assured that “opposition amendments” would be adopted for the law on purchasing power. The text was presented Thursday in the Council of Ministers and will be debated from July 18 in the National Assembly.

The text on purchasing power was presented Thursday in the Council of Ministers and will be debated from July 18 in the National Assembly. The majority is stepping up discussions with the opposition in order to find a majority to vote for it, but without having succeeded, for the moment, in reaching a consensus. Invited to the microphone of Dimitri Pavlenko this Friday on Europe 1, Olivier Véran assured that “amendments of the opposition” would be adopted for the law on purchasing power.

“The important thing is that the spirit of the text on purchasing power is not affected”

“Once the bill is presented, it arrives in Parliament. And the deputies seize it. The senators seize it and discuss among themselves. They debate. And when there are things that seem to them more favorable than what we would have proposed, when they want to modify it, they propose amendments”, explains Olivier Véran who nevertheless wishes that “the spirit of the text on purchasing power is not affected”.

“We want to have a majority outside the RN”

Marine Le Pen has already indicated that she was in favor of the revaluation of pensions and the extension of the tariff shield. She also wants the law to be passed quickly. But, for Olivier Véran, the majority will “not need the votes of the National Rally”. “We are not counting on the votes of the RN to have this text adopted, but if the RN wishes, they are free, they are parliamentarians. We want to have a majority outside the RN, because the RN is the extreme right”.

The majority of the amendments will be tabled by the union of the left. The Nupes is already the author of a bill on purchasing power, which includes in particular the increase in the minimum wage to 1,500 euros, a minimum income of 1,063 euros for everyone, or even the blocking of basic necessities.
