Purely electric – looking ahead: This is how the Audi Q6 e-tron should come

These are new times in Ingolstadt: while proven models such as the affordable A1 and the classy A8 will no longer have a successor, the electric and SUV density of the Ingolstadt company will rise to record levels. The Audi Q6 e-tron will be both in one. We show what it will likely look like.

A new Audi has just been presented in China, a modern SUV called the Q6, which appears as an economical and spacious representative of the MQB platform powered by combustion engines. The Audi, which will also be available in Europe in the future, has little to do with this Q6. Because it will be a fully electric SUV. The new Q6 e-tron, which is primarily intended for western markets and will be launched in 2023, is based on the fully electric PPE platform, which is currently being developed together with Porsche and also serves as the basis for a electric Audi A6 and an electric Porsche Macan. In its dimensions, the new e-tron will be roughly on par with the Q5 – and thus exactly between two other electric Audis: the still fresh Q4 e-tron, which is based on the MEB platform developed by Volkswagen, and the e-tron, which is a derivative of the highly flexible MLB Evo platform, which also leaves room for combustion engines. The Q6 e-tron is said to offer significantly more interior space than the Q4 e-tron. It shouldn’t be less spacious than the e-tron, which is even more spacious. Insiders are rumored to have an 800-volt architecture and peak performance of more than 330 kW/450 hp. And then there’s the e-tron GT, a flat four-door sedan based on the J1 platform developed by Porsche. The e-tron GT is expected to receive a facelift in 2024, and the e-tron and its derivative e-tron Sportback will be revised as early as late 2022. Not only will the look benefit from this, but the steering and chassis should become significantly more agile. (Jens Meiners, cen)
