Purely electric – Smart Brake comes without lines and fluid

From 2028, the so-called smart brake is to go into series production as a 100 percent brake-by-wire system. Wait a minute, doesn’t that already exist? In the approach: With brake-by-wire brakes in modern cars, only the parking brake works electrically. The driver activates a switch in the cockpit, whereupon two servomotors, so-called actuators, mounted on the rear brake calipers press the pads onto the discs. Otherwise, the driver sends the electrical signal with his right foot only to the brake booster. From here, mechanical processes take place up to the moment when the brake pads take hold.
