This fatal accident is the third on the station in just six days.

On Friday January 14, a 71-year-old man died falling over a precipice, in the same area of the estate (the Truchas sector) where a 19-year-old young man had killed himself in a ravine on Wednesday January 12, this time while practicing off-piste.

A freeride skier (extreme off-piste) also died on Saturday January 15 during a 350-meter fall while hurtling down the Spanish slope of the Pic d’Aspe, not far from the Hautes-Pyrénées.

Snow conditions have been extremely dangerous since last week. “As it is very cold, even with the sun, it does not thaw in many places”, thus warned the gendarmes of the high mountain platoon of Oloron (PGHM) of Oloron-Sainte-Marie while two people died in Haut-Béarn on Wednesday January 12.
