May 2 (Reuters) – Qantas Airways QAN.AX announced on Monday that it has signed a contract with Airbus AIR.PA for 12 A350-1000 aircraft capable of non-stop flights between Sydney and London along with 40 other aircraft to renew its fleet.

In a separate note, the Australian airline also indicated that market conditions were improving, citing the faster than expected rebound in domestic demand, with the effect of considering a return to profit from July 1. next.

Citing sources, Reuters had reported on Saturday that Qantas would shortly announce an order from Airbus with the aim of offering direct commercial flights, lasting almost 20 hours, between Sydney and London from the end of 2025. .

The first deliveries of the A350-1000s are expected in 2025.

Qantas has also ordered 20 A321XLR aircraft and 20 A220s aircraft, expected by 2023.
