Dell is not the only one to launch a QD-OLED PC screen, MSI was also able to use Samsung Display technology.
After Dell’s Alienware 34 QD-OLED (AW3423DW), and while waiting for Samsung’s monitor, it’s MSI’s turn to use Samsung Display screen technology. The Taiwanese manufacturer unveils its brand new PC screen in QD-OLED.
Aliens have competition
It’s a 34-inch curved screen, like the Alienware, which also offers a maximum refresh rate of 175Hz and latency (gray-to-gray) of 0.1ms at 21:9.
Although the scant information so far does not confirm this directly, it can be assumed that the MSI monitor uses the same QD-OLED panel as Dell’s AW3423DW model. This means that the panel has a definition of 3440 × 1440 pixels on a diagonal of 34 inches. The radius of curvature (1800R), the refresh rate (175 Hz) and the response time (0.1 ms) correspond exactly to the key data of the Alienware. So it wouldn’t be surprising if the pros and cons of new monitor technology at MSI were similar.
As a reminder, the Alienware PC monitor has impressively demonstrated the benefits of high contrast with true black and faster response times compared to LCD monitors. In addition, the combination with Quantum Dot technology promises an enormous color spectrum, which MSI emphasizes with “99.3% DCI-P3, 97.8% Adobe RGB and 139.1% sRGB“. Also count on an ambient light sensor and a KVM function, which processes multiple video and peripheral signals to provide a single output.
