Quadient launches its new Drop Box in the UK – 2023-02-07 18:15

(AOF) – Quadient, a major operator of connected parcel lockers worldwide, and leader in customer communication management technologies, has presented a new feature for its Parcel Pending by Quadient smart lockers, the Drop Box, which allows consumers to easily drop off their return parcels and print shipping labels if needed. Thanks to the modular concept developed by Quadient, the Drop Box and its printer come in the form of a unit that can be added to new or existing lockers.

This module allows consumers to deposit parcels directly into a dedicated compartment, by simply scanning a barcode label, which maximizes the number of parcels retrieved while minimizing the physical footprint of the deposit.

Users also have the option of printing standard shipping labels directly from the built-in printer. Quadient’s cloud monitoring technology records every step of the process and allows carriers to know the status of packages at all times.

While this new solution has just been launched in the UK, Evri, one of the largest parcel operators in the country, is the first carrier to offer Drop Box and printer functionality to its customers. Evri is one of four international carriers to join Quadient’s open smart locker network in the UK. The latter already has 300 lockers in service, and plans to reach 5,000 units in the coming years, at the rate of around 200 new installations per month.

German autonomy not so simple

China has been Germany’s leading economic partner for six years. However, across the Rhine, companies are called upon to reduce their heavy dependence on the Asian giant due to a rise in geopolitical tensions with the country. In this context, the powerful VDMA points out the importance of the Chinese market and the danger that a too sudden termination of ties with China would represent. The country is, in fact, the second export market and the first investment destination for German mechanical and industrial engineering. The federation nevertheless recognizes the need to diversify the trading partners of the German economy.
