Not one, not two, not three – no, a woman from Augsburg became the mother of quadruplets! In November, she gave birth to four healthy boys in the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics at the University Hospital Augsburg.

Leon, Luis, Aaron and Ben are the names of the four little "miracles", as the family, but also the doctors call them. According to the clinic, such multiple births only happen every one hundred years without prior fertility therapy.

Quadruplets were initially a shock

The birth of the quadruplets is really something very special and makes not only the parents but also the director of the women's clinic proud. Nevertheless, the mother was initially shocked during one of the first ultrasound examinations. By the seventh week of pregnancy, she had already learned that she was expecting triplets. But then her doctor had to correct his statement again – because one of the eggs had decided to divide again.

"That was a bit of a shock at first," the clinic quotes the woman in a press release. Mainly because her doctor opened the message with a warning that she must be strong now. In the end, the joy that the babies were doing well outweighed them – only that there were four instead of three. "Of course we were happy – it's like one or four small miracles. But we were also a little worried about how we should do it," the mother remembers the moment.

The end of the pregnancy turned turbulent

Although the family gradually made friends with the idea of ​​welcoming quadruplets, things got turbulent again towards the end of the pregnancy. The four siblings were in a hurry – and they had to be born by caesarean section two months too early. They all saw the light of day in just three minutes.

After the birth, the parents could breathe a sigh of relief: their sons first came to the premature baby intensive care unit. However, this was just a precautionary measure. All four were able to breathe independently from the start and are healthy. We say: congratulations!
