Qualcomm: takeover of the Israeli Autotalks

(CercleFinance.com) – Qualcomm announced on Monday that it has reached an agreement to acquire the Israeli Autotalks, which specializes in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2X) communications.

In a press release, the group from San Diego (California) explains that the operation will enable it to strengthen the capacities of its own digital automotive platform, called ‘Snapdragon Digital Chassis’.

Autotalks – a ‘fabless’ chip designer (without factories) – has been developing communications solutions to the ‘V2X’ standard since 2009, notably intended to reduce the risk of collision between vehicles.

Qualcomm, which had invested in Autotalks since 2017, believes that the recent development of the automotive market justifies the creation of an architecture entirely dedicated to V2X technology and road safety.

According to Qualcomm, which does not reveal the financial terms of the takeover, Autotalks is already working with several leading car manufacturers, such as Volkswagen, GM or Continental.
