Qualcomm: the data sheet of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 leaked well before its officialization

Snapdragon’s 600 series is also about to change its name. Information from the leak of the technical sheet of the next Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, which we owe to the indiscreet Evleaks.

At the end of 2021, Qualcomm began to review the names of its processors for smartphones, which are longer, but which now make it possible to avoid certain confusion between the references in the catalog. Over the last eight months, the 8 Gen 1 and 7 Gen 1 platforms have been born and the American does not intend to stop there. The leaker Evleaks posted the full specs sheet for a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 over the weekend, supposedly the company’s next announcement at its year-end conference.

A new name for the Snapdragon 600 series

Like all Snapdragon X Gen Xs already released, the 6 Gen 1 version is engraved in 4 nm, according to information from Evleaks. It is based on a Kryo CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz (as on the Snapdragon 695 5G, the latest in the 600 series), as well as an Adreno GPU, whose full name is not mentioned. From the previous SoC also seems to be retained Quick Charge 4+ technology and Bluetooth 5.2. The chip seems to keep everything related to audio from the Snapdragon 695, as is the case with support for screens of maximum FHD + definition, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

Among the changes, we can note the presence of a new 5G modem, the X62, which we also find in the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The chip allows the use of 6E wifi and promises maximum speeds of 2.9 GB /s. Memory support changes to LPDDR5 clocked at 2750 MHz. On the video side, this Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 adopts 4K HDR recording at 30 fps, as well as 4K HD capture and simultaneous capture of snapshots in 48 megapixels. Added to this is the ability to shoot in slow motion at 240 fps in 270p. Artificial intelligence is part of it and will be used for face detection, autofocus or even automatic exposure. On the photo part, nothing changes, since this new platform retains the possibility of capturing shots in 108 Mpx at best.

Obviously, Qualcomm hasn’t said a word about this Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 yet. Generally, the manufacturer announces its SoCs at the end of the year and having information so far in advance is very rare. To see if the American firm confirms this leak very soon or if we have to take our troubles patiently before the official announcement which could take place in mid-November.
