Quantic Dream communicates again on its inclusive actions and against harassment

In 2018, Quantic Dream had been accused by The world, PC duck and Mediapart to convey a toxic corporate culture, known and potentially fueled by directors David Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumière. The legal aspect is still in progress, but the reputation of the French studio has necessarily taken a hit. There are many rumors that the team is struggling to recruit and retain talent for star wars eclipseand the still hypothetical projects dreamland and Spellcaster.

It is in this context thatDavid Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumière communicate again on actions to “reassess their practices [pour] ensuring a supportive studio culture]”. Partnership with an association LGBTQIA+signature of the Diversity Charterrecruitment of diverse employees, appointment of a manager DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) and internal processes for reporting behavior deemed to be of concern, there seem to be numerous initiatives to raise the bar.

As we approach our 25th anniversary celebration next month, we wanted to let you know that Quantic Dream has undertaken to re-evaluate its practices to ensure that our studio culture remains supportive, safe, and respectful of everyone.

Today we would like to share some facts and actions we have taken to reinforce our commitment to maintaining a respectful, welcoming and supportive studio:

  • We are launching a partnership with an LGBTQIA+ association to ensure that LGBTQIA+ characters, stories and themes are flawlessly portrayed in our games. Work and reflection sessions have already begun.
  • Quantic Dream is committed to the Diversity Charter promoted by the French organizations SNJV and SELL, the government agencies DGE and CNC. You can view it here.
  • Our LGBTQIA+ community has appointed spokespersons to ensure that a diversity of voices and representations can infuse everything we do, and that these perspectives are effective at all levels of the studio.
  • We have and will continue to employ and promote diverse talent, including within our narrative team, to ensure that we reflect the diversity of our audience and the games we want to create.
  • Employees from the LGBTQIA+ community have been present at the studio since its creation. Many have been with the company for ten years or more, working in all types of positions and levels of responsibility.
  • We welcome a DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) manager to our team, with a specific budget dedicated to DEI initiatives.
  • More than 50% of our executives are women, including Production Directors, our Marketing Vice-President, our Sales Director, our Communications Director, our Human Resources Director, numerous Project Managers, Producers and Heads of Department. Our equity score (assessed by the French government) shows equal pay and equal treatment between women and men.
  • Internal processes allow any employee to anonymously report workplace issues through non-managerial staff. Various channels, including dedicated digital spaces, are available to express oneself, share ideas and raise concerns. Anonymous surveys are also carried out regularly in our team by independent third-party human resources companies, so that everyone can freely express their opinion or concerns.

To ensure that our core values and beliefs are clear and represented, we will continue to grow, to make our workplace the safest environment, and to increasingly support communities and our own team here at Quantic Dream.

David Cage, Guillaume De Fondaumière and the entire Quantic Dream team

Will all this be enough to restore the image of Quantic Dream in the hearts of players, employees and especially future employees? Only the future will tell us. Until then, Detroit: Become Human is available from €24.00 on Amazon.co.uk.
