Quantic Dream to be acquired by NetEase Games?

Since that date, Quantic Dream has not released any new titles and has only announced Star Wars Eclipse, which it is said will not be released for many more years. Recently, the Detroit studio: Become Human (6.5 million copies sold) confirmed to have three projects in development, but noted that these are barely out of the prototyping and pre-production phases. If he says he has increased his workforce by more than 50% in 2021, the studio would encounter difficulties in recruiting and is currently seeking to strengthen its two production sites in Paris and Montreal.

Today, according to Tom Henderson’s sources, NetEase Games has agreed to acquire 100% of the shares of Quantic Dream, which would therefore go under the protection of one of the most solid companies in video games. In 2021, driven by strong new releases like Naraka: Bladepoint and Harry Potter: Magic Emerges, NetEase Games achieved a turnover of 8.8 billion euros, more than any Western third-party publisher.

And if 70% of this figure comes from mobile, NetEase Games is working hard to make a name for itself on consoles and make itself known to the international public, as evidenced by the acquisition of Grasshopper Manufacture, the creation of Nagoshi Studio, NetEase Games Montreal and that of Sakura Studio, a brand new Japanese studio that is working on three games.
