Quantum Code: Scott Bakula back in the reboot? The showrunner continues to hope

As the second episode of the “Code Quantum” reboot has just aired, the “Quantum Leap” showrunner has returned to the possibility of Scott Bakula returning to the series.

The Code Quantum reboot, titled Quantum Leap, officially premiered on September 19 on NBC. Thirty years after the misadventures of Dr. Sam Beckett, a new team led by physicist Ben Song (Raymond Lee) has been assembled to revive the project in hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it. .

After making an unauthorized leap into the past, Ben himself finds himself in a time spiral, passing from life to life and from era to era.

Ever since the reboot was announced in September 2021, fans of the ’90s series have been harboring hopes that Scott Bakula, who played Sam, would make an appearance in Quantum Leap. Unfortunately, even before the broadcast of the first episode, the comedian took the floor in order to rule out any possibility of a return, wishing at the same time to the new team and the creators “Good luck and good jumping!“.

But if we are to believe the showrunner of the reboot, Martin Gero, the door is still open for a possible cameo from Bakula. “Out of respect, I’ll always ask him if he wants to be on the show”, he thus declared during an interview granted to the American site Collider.

I have a very, very good idea that I shared with Deborah (Pratt) and Don (Bellisario). I think it could be a lot of fun. But I also fully respect his choice. He knows our passion for him. He knows our enthusiasm, love and respect for the old series.

For now, he said no. It would be pretty amazing to have him back, but I don’t know what it would look like, or even if it’s possible.

Although the ball is entirely in Scott Bakula’s court, Martin Gero still continues to do everything in his power to bring the original Sam back to the show. Asked about the possibility of a meeting, he added: “I’m going to call his managers just enough that they feel like I want him on the show, but not enough that they think it’s harassment.

We would all love for that to happen, but we fully honor and respect his choices..” So all hope is not lost.
