Quantum: Recharged, 41 years later, a sequel to Atari’s arcade game is launched

Released at the very end of 1982 on arcade terminals, Quantum will not have marked the spirits as much as the other games published by Atari at the time, but the title of General Computer Corporation and Betty Ryan nevertheless had qualities, allowing us to control a probe to capture atomic particles by surrounding them.

A retro and arcade title that has just been brought up to date by SneakyBoxalready behind the modern suites of Centipede, Breakout or Asteroids. Quantum: Recharged arrives this week on computers and home consoles, more than 40 years after the original opus, with A gameplay true to arcade cabinets, but obviously including modern technologies and features. Atariobviously publisher of the game, makes the presentations:

In Quantum: Recharged, players pilot a spaceship that must circle and destroy atomic particles with its deadly furrow. Particles appear in unpredictable waves, touching one will damage your ship’s hull and touching too many will destroy it. With no cannons, lasers, or missiles to eliminate these enemies, Quantum: Recharged forces players to hone their dexterity by learning how to wield their ship’s agility to progress through increasingly difficult levels.

An intriguing blend of energy and hypnotic gameplay, Quantum: Recharged offers a stunning visual spectacle paired with upbeat music from acclaimed composer and artist Megan McDuffie.

The key features of Quantum: Recharged
