The people of Davos celebrate the victory in Lausanne.

It is not surprising that there are close duels between Lausanne and Davos in the series. The Vaudois won 3 out of 4 games against the Grisons in the qualification, but only prevailed by one goal in each case. The HCD achieved its only success in the penalty shootout. In Game 1 of the quarter-final series, unsurprisingly, there was still no winner after 60 minutes.
Egli only needs 29 seconds in the second overtime
In the first overtime, both teams missed top-class opportunities, and Lausanne was also unable to convert two power plays into something countable. The closest thing to a lucky punch came was Damien Riat, who was initially denied by HCD keeper Sandro Aeschlimann and then skated the puck into the goal.
The second extension didn’t last long. After just 29 seconds, Dominik Egli redeemed the Davos fans who had traveled with him. The defender defeated the strong Connor Hughes in the Lausanne goal and secured the break for the guests. Game 2 in the series is on Tuesday in Davos.
Glauser’s answer to Bristedt’s opening goal
The Davos team got off to a better start in the game. In the 7th minute, after a quick counterattack, Dennis Rasmussen passed the puck into the middle, where Leon Bristedt deflected to make it 1-0. Lausanne took a while to recover from this setback. In the 16th minute, Théo Rochette let a cross from Antti Suomela through for Andrea Glauser. The defender defeated Aeschlimann and equalized the game.
As a result, Lausanne and Davos fought a duel on equal terms. Both teams repeatedly came close to the opening goal, with shots on both sides hitting the edge of the goal. The hosts were also unable to take advantage of three penalties against Graubünden in the middle third, nor a phase of 25 seconds in which they were twice in the majority.
Davos with a strong reaction
Just under 10 minutes before the end of regular time, the Lausanne team celebrated again. Defenseman Lukas Frick hammered the puck into the high left corner, Aeschlimann’s view was obscured. But the fans’ joy only lasted for a short time. After a penalty against Tim Bozon, the Davos team took advantage of their superiority and made it 2-2 through Aleksi Mustonen. It finally went into overtime. HCD had luck on its side there.
