Queen Eiizabeth II .: withdrawal to Windsor Castle due to Corona chaos

Queen Elisabeth II will celebrate her 94th birthday at the end of April. But this year everything will probably go a little differently than usual. In order to protect the regent from a possible infection with the corona virus, she will move to Windsor Castle on Thursday, as reported, among other things, by the British "Daily Mail". Normally, the 93-year-old would only go there for the "Easter vacation" in a week.

Does the Queen have to cancel her birthday parade?

So that the risk of infection can be kept as low as possible, the castle staff is apparently also kept to a minimum. As the palace said in a statement, all major events that would have been scheduled for members of the royal family in the next few weeks will be postponed. It is currently unclear whether the annual Trooping the Color birthday parade can take place in June as planned, according to the "Daily Mail"; it is also questionable whether the celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the end of the war on May 8 will be continued.

At almost 94, the Queen belongs to the risk group for the virus disease. Only recently, however, Her Majesty had announced that she would continue to fulfill her official duties "until there was serious advice in another direction".
