This step by her great-nephew Arthur Chatto is likely to have a special meaning for Queen Elizabeth: The 22-year-old was accepted for training as an officer in the Royal Marines. He is the first royal after Prince Edward to pursue a career in naval fanfare.

It is news that Queen Elizabeth, 95, in particular is said to have “pleased”. Arthur Chatto, 22, the grandson of Princess Margaret, † 71, was accepted for training as an officer in the Royal Marines, as the British “The Sun” reports. Chatto is said to have personally communicated his admission to the Navy to the monarch when he visited her last week.

Queen Elizabeth: Great-nephew Arthur continues family tradition

For the royal family, it would be the first member to be appointed officer in the navy. Prince Edward, 57, had also aspired to a career in the marine infantry, but could not withstand the pressure of training. He quit his job in 1986 without having completed his training. For Queen Elizabeth herself, her son’s decision should have been okay at the time. In contrast to Prince Philip, † 99, who himself held several military titles, including Admiral of the Fleet of the Royal Navy. He is said to have spoken to Prince Edwards’ conscience and referred to the family honor and tradition: in vain.

If Arthur Chatto successfully completes his training, he would be the first royal to receive this rank. The 22-year-old fitness trainer is said to have prepared himself extensively for his upcoming task. “He went straight to officer training for this year’s class and is very eager and ready for it,” an insider told The Sun.

Arthut Chatto is a personal trainer

The British media and insiders are already agreed that the Queen’s great-nephew will certainly make it further than Prince Edward, who quit his job after four months. Chatto has been passionate about sports for years and is employed as a personal trainer in a fitness studio. Even there, he focused on the training methods of the military, as he himself explained. “I’m a level 3 personal trainer, I specialize in strength and endurance training with a military focus”, Arthur Chatto describes himself on the studio’s homepage.

Apparently, Lady Sarah Chatto’s son, 57, considered a career in the Marines at an early age. During his school years at the prestigious Eton College, which was also attended by Prince William, 39, and Prince Harry, 36, he was part of the Combined Cadet Force; an institution that is supposed to teach students military skills.
