Queen Elizabeth and Queen Margrethe celebrate major milestone

Queen Elizabeth not only celebrates her 96th birthday on April 21, 2022, she also celebrates her 70th jubilee on the throne this year. But she’s not the only monarch for whom the year holds a major milestone. With a special souvenir photo, the Brit also honors the gold anniversary of Denmark’s Queen Margrethe, 82.

In the 70 days leading up to the anniversary weekend, the British royal family keeps releasing impressive images from the past seven decades. In the latest photo of this fascinating series, Queen Elizabeth can be seen appearing on the balcony – but not in front of Buckingham Palace as usual, but at Amalienborg Palace. “1979: During a state visit to Denmark, the Queen stands with Queen Margrethe, the Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Henrik on the balcony of Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen,” says the Royal Family’s Instagram account of the historic snapshot.

The Danish monarch is also honored with the words “2022 is also a special year for Queen Margrethe, who is celebrating her golden jubilee on the throne”. And another strong woman should not go unmentioned: “In 1979, Margaret Thatcher became England’s first female Prime Minister.”

Queen Elizabeth: She celebrates her birthday in a special place

On April 21, 2022, Queen Elizabeth will celebrate her 96th birthday. It is her first birthday with some distance to the death of her husband Prince Philip, † 99, who died on April 9, 2021. Apparently, the British head of state is in the physical condition to celebrate this special day a little. As the “Daily Mail” reports, the monarch has chosen Sandringham House for this. The Windsors are very attached to this estate and usually celebrate Christmas in the county of Norfolk every year. The Queen is said to have spent her 70th anniversary there in February. Another reason for this bond: the old farmhouse on the property was Prince Philip’s home for the last few years of his life.

The Queen is due to fly to Sandringham in a helicopter later today. This trip is also an important sign, as the monarch has been suffering from health problems since her corona infection in February and has had to cancel some appointments for this reason. That’s why she’ll probably take it easy on her birthday as usual. At least Buckingham Palace has no big public events planned. Family and friends are expected to visit the Queen at Sandringham in the coming days. It is also expected that members of the British royal family will pay her public tribute.

Sandringham House is Queen Elizabeth's private country residence and is located about 180 kilometers north-east of London.

Duchess Meghan: She reveals sweet details about her children

Duchess Meghan, 40, and Prince Harry, 37, have been in the Netherlands since April 15. As part of the Invictus Games, the mother of two took part in an event for children on April 17. She would have done that mainly because she misses her own kids a lot. A work from the children’s book series “Hairy Maclary” was read to the little ones at the event, as “Daily Mail” reports.

The Duchess of Sussex is said to have revealed to war veteran James Stride, who was in attendance, that Archie, 2, and Lilibet, 10 months, are big fans of the book. “Meghan told me she knew the book and had read it to her own children,” Stride said. After the reading, the veteran signed a copy of the work and “cheeky” gave it to Meghan as a gift.
