There was a bomb alarm in the summer residence of Queen Elizabeth II. A special team moved out and a man was arrested.

Bomb alarm in the Holyrood Palace of Queen Elizabeth II (94). In the monarch’s residence in Edinburgh, Scotland, scenes must have recently taken place like something out of a crime thriller. After the police were informed on Tuesday evening (March 23rd) about a “suspicious object” on the grounds of the palace, a specialized army bomb disposal team was deployed. A police spokesman confirmed the operation, as reported by the Scottish newspaper “The Herald”, among others.

The bomb defusers could have secured the item, there was no danger to the public. Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip (99), were also safe in the distant Windsor Castle. The British monarch is usually to be found in the Scottish residence mainly at the beginning of summer.

Suspect was arrested

After the operation, officials combed the grass of the palace forecourt with long sticks, checked the surrounding gullies and checked the floors of parked cars, the report said. In the course of the investigation, a 39-year-old man was arrested. He is allegedly connected to the incident and will have to answer in court on Thursday.
