The Queen will not be forgotten: her family has made this clear in several Instagram posts. The Prime Minister also spoke up.

On the first anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), several members of the Royal Family spoke out via Instagram. King Charles III kicked things off shortly after midnight. (74) with a video message. Later, the heir to the throne, Sarah Ferguson (63) and her daughter Eugenie (33) also published loving lines. Meanwhile, Charles surprisingly appeared in public, as the British newspaper “The Sun” reported. He attended a memorial service at Crathie Parish Church near Balmoral this morning with wife Camilla, 76. Originally it was said that he wanted to spend the sad day in private without making any public appearances.

“We all miss you”

Heir to the throne Prince William (41) and his wife Kate (41) published on her Instagram page four pictures of the late monarch. Including one that shows the Queen surrounded by her great-grandchildren. “Today we remember the extraordinary life and legacy of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth. We miss you all,” the couple wrote, marking the text with their initials. The couple are expected to attend a private service at St David’s Cathedral in Wales later today to commemorate the Queen’s life. They are then expected to meet with members of the local community in the cloister.

Like a second mother

Sarah Ferguson (63), the ex-wife of Prince Andrew (63), released a very emotional statement, in which she emphasized her close connection with her former mother-in-law: “You were a wonderful friend, a mentor, a second mother to me and grandmother to my daughters, who share so much of your courage and your heart. Our family and our nation will always love and miss you.” She also revealed that she often remembers the Queen’s “wise words”.

Fergie’s daughter Eugenie (33) shared a shared snapshot. The princess is sitting relaxed on a bench with her grandmother. She wrote: “I’m thinking of you today. I miss you so much but remember what a life you lived full of service, love and devotion to everyone and to your family who loved you so much. ” Eugenie continued: “Forever grateful. And always in my heart.”

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to the Queen

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak (43) published a detailed statement on the first anniversary of his death, underlining the service of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch: “Over a year, the scope of Her Late Majesty’s service appears only greater. Her devotion to the nations of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth only appears deeper . And our gratitude for such an extraordinary life of duty and dedication continues to grow.” He fondly recalls the occasions “on which I met Her Late Majesty, particularly the private audience I had with her at Buckingham Palace before presenting my first budget as Prime Minister”. The Prime Minister said: “I was impressed by her wisdom, her incredible warmth and grace, but also by her sharp wit.”

Queen Elizabeth II ascended the throne at the age of 25. She ruled for 70 years. Shortly before her death, she was able to celebrate her platinum throne jubilee in the summer of 2022. She died on September 8th at her beloved Scottish castle, Balmoral.
