There was another security breakdown on the royal estate around Windsor Castle. People could climb over a fence unhindered.

Two people apparently entered the royal estate in Windsor without permission last Sunday – just a few days after a similar incident, as reported by “The Sun”. The suspects – a 31-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman – allegedly climbed over a fence in front of the Royal Lodge – near the area where Queen Elizabeth II (95) walks or rides her dogs, so the newspaper. The Royal Lodge is the residence of Prince Andrew (61).

According to the newspaper, the Queen was not on the grounds of Windsor Castle at the time of the break-in, but her son Andrew was. The couple was arrested and released on bail, continues “The Sun”. A few days before the intruders were discovered, there should have been another security breach in Windsor. A 44-year-old woman who allegedly claimed to be Andrew’s fiancée reportedly stayed on the premises for 20 minutes before she was arrested.

“It is unforgivable”

Consequences after the second incident cannot be ruled out, according to “The Sun”: “This is an amazing mistake. After the first intruder, everyone was on high alert, now this is happening. Heads could roll. It is unforgivable,” said a source for the British tabloid . “The couple wandered around forever before someone spotted them and called the police. Andrew was home at the time. You have to wonder what on earth is going on up there.”

The Queen has lived almost exclusively at Windsor Castle since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. The funeral of her husband, Prince Philip (1921-2021), took place there on April 17th.
