Queen Elizabeth II has to cope with the death of her husband Prince Philip. The palace released an emotional statement from the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II (94) mourns the loss of her husband Prince Philip, who died on April 9 at the age of 99. Three photos have now been published on the official Facebook account of the Royal Family, including a portrait photo of the couple by photographer Annie Leibovitz (71) from 2016 and a coronation photo of the Queen. “At the coronation in 1953, the Duke of Edinburgh swore to be Her Majesty’s servant,” the post reads. The Duke was a loyal companion for almost 70 years, from Her Majesty’s accession to the throne in 1952 until his death.

In addition, a quote from the Queen from 1997 was added, describing the couple’s deep bond and the imperturbability of their marriage: “He was simply my support and my strength throughout these years, and me and his whole family and this and many other countries owe him more debt than he would ever claim or we shall ever know. ”

The Queen is in an eight-day period of mourning in which she does not fulfill any royal duties – not even in private. This is followed by an official, 30-day period of mourning for the entire Royal Family, during which no public appointments are expected. Prince Philips funeral is expected next Saturday.
