For the first time, Queen Elizabeth II received guests for an audience at Buckingham Palace via video chat.

An audience with Queen Elizabeth II (94) traditionally takes place at Buckingham Palace in London. However, this is difficult to do during the Corona crisis. Now the Queen again welcomed guests to an audience – but for the first time she did so virtually and from Windsor Castle.

Diplomats invited to an audience

Due to the corona pandemic, Queen Elizabeth II and husband Prince Philip (99) are currently residing at Windsor Castle. The Queen has only attended a few public appointments recently. On Friday, Elizabeth II welcomed the Hungarian ambassador Dr. Ferenc Kumin. Photos of the unusual meeting shared the royal family on Twitter. The Georgian ambassador Sophie Katsarava and Gil da Costa, the ambassador of East Timor, were also invited to the audience.

This year, the Queen and the Prince Consort will also stay at Windsor Castle for Christmas, as recently announced. There should not be a big family celebration because of the pandemic.
