The Queen has been in public for decades. Until now, she rarely had to cancel appointments for health reasons.

Queen Elizabeth II (95) has canceled her two-day visit to Northern Ireland. Like “BBC News” from a statement by Buckingham Palace quoted, the doctors advised her against the trip. The monarch is said to be “in good shape”. The statement also stated that the 95-year-old “reluctantly accepted medical advice to cut back on her for the next few days.”

For now, the Queen, who has completed a few appointments in the past few days, is resting at Windsor Castle. It is not the first time that the monarch has to cancel appointments for health reasons, as the “Mirror” summarizes.

Colds and operations

In January 2020, Elizabeth II had to cancel her annual appointment at the “Women’s Institute” in Sandringham. A cold is said to have been the reason.

In June 2018, the Queen was absent from an event in St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. According to British media reports, the palace said at the time that the monarch was not feeling well.

At the beginning of June 2018 it also became known why the then 92-year-old had recently appeared more often with sunglasses to public appearances. From the palace it was said: The Queen is recovering from a cataract operation. “I can confirm that the queen successfully completed a short, planned cataract treatment last month,” said a palace spokesman, according to the BBC.

In December 2016, the Queen did not appear for the Christmas service in Sandringham. She had to recover from a bad cold at this time, as reported by “Mail Online”, among others. It was the first time in almost 30 years that Elizabeth II missed the Christmas mass in St. Mary Magdalene Church, it said.

In October 2003, the royal family also published a statement to an operation on the queen. A cartilage tear in the right knee was treated. The small intervention therefore lasted 45 minutes.
