In the run-up to Prince Philip’s funeral, Queen Elizabeth II shared a private snapshot from the family album.

Queen Elizabeth II (94) granted a rare intimate glimpse before the funeral of her late husband Prince Philip (1921-2021) on Saturday (April 17th). The British monarch shared on the royal family’s official Instagram account a private picture of her and her prince consort. In addition, the Queen thanked for the numerous expressions of condolence from all over the world.

“The Queen wishes to share this private picture, which was taken together with the Duke of Edinburgh at the summit of the Coyles of Muick in Scotland in 2003,” says the snapshot of Prince Philip laughing in the grass. The Queen sits next to him and smiles loosely at the camera.

The Queen and the Royal Family would also like to thank them for the many expressions of condolences that they had received from all over the world. They are touched by the fact that so many people have shared their fond memories of the Duke of Edinburgh with them to celebrate his life.

Prince Philip died on April 9 at the age of 99. His coffin will be brought from Windsor Castle in an open Land Rover to St. George’s Chapel this Saturday, where the ceremony will take place. The funeral service will be broadcast on German television by RTL, Sat.1 and ZDF.
