Is the Queen an oldie? No, not even at the age of 95.

The Queen does not want to accept the title of “Oldie of the Year” from the British “Oldie” magazine – with a sweet greeting.

Queen Elizabeth II (95) finds it inappropriate to call herself an “oldie” – even if it is meant positively. She made this clear by rejecting a magazine that wanted to award her the title “Oldie of the Year”.

The jury of the magazine “The Oldie” had proposed the Queen as this year’s winner because of her role in the pandemic and as an honor for her upcoming anniversary as Queen. But apparently Queen Elizabeth II cannot identify with the price. In a personal letter, she politely stated that she had to refuse it.

She does not meet the criteria

The magazine itself was so taken with the opinion, that it published the royal answer. In it, her private secretary explains: “Her Majesty believes that you are as old as you feel. Therefore, the Queen does not believe that she meets the relevant criteria to [den Preis] and hopes that a more suitable candidate will be found. “

Her husband, Prince Philip (1921-2921), who has since passed away, had a similarly humorous approach to the Oldie Prize in 2011 when he received the award. He wrote: “There is nothing better for morale than to be reminded that the years go by – faster and faster – and that parts are slowly beginning to fall out of the old framework. But it is nice to be remembered at all. “

The award ceremony on October 19 did not have to do without the royal accolade: Prince Charles (72) and Duchess Camilla (74) presented some awards on stage.
