An exhibition in Moscow cannot take place because European exhibits have been withdrawn – including pieces from the royal collection.

The Queen is back at work. Yesterday, Tuesday, Queen Elizabeth II (95) received Mary Simon (74), Governor General of Canada, at Windsor Castle. She also took part in two virtual audiences. These are the first appointments since her Covid 19 recovery.

And as the “Guardian” reports, also occupied the royal house of the Russian war in Ukraine. The Queen has participated in the boycott of Russia with parts of an art collection. Accordingly, the Kremlin Museum in Moscow was revoked permission to exhibit three swords from the royal art collection in an exhibition about duels.

The decision was made in February

The exhibition was sponsored by the Russian oligarch and former fencer Alisher Usmanov (68). Sanctions were imposed on him earlier this month for his connections to Vladimir Putin (69). In fact, the Royal Collection had already withdrawn permission to use the swords in mid-February, when Russian troops were massed on Ukraine’s borders. This was confirmed by a spokesman for the Queen.

The exhibition, called “The Duel: from Trial by Combat to a Noble Crime,” should have opened on March 4th. In a statement, the museum saidthat the core of the project consists of exhibits from European museums “which had to be withdrawn prematurely due to the geopolitical situation”.
