Queen Elizabeth II (94) is not a fan of garlic. Darren McGrady (born 1962), a former chef of the monarch, now reveals that he had to do without it when preparing food for the royal family. The cook, who worked for the Royals in the nineties, said in a clip on his YouTube channel: "The Queen doesn't like garlic, we couldn't use it at Buckingham Palace."
McGrady also stated that the Queen has a preference for her home-grown food, especially what grows on the Balmoral Palace estate. They also love "Potted Shrimps", a traditional British dish made from brown prawns in butter with nutmeg flavor, placed in a small saucepan. She likes to eat them with toast.
The big difference
"When I got to Buckingham Palace, it was more about cooking dishes that the Queen liked," said the chef. He said about the peculiarity of the job at the Royals: "You only cook for this one person, while in a hotel you prepare the food for many different customers."
