Having a chat as the head of the British royal family without being recognized – actually impossible. But the Queen proves the opposite.

For someone like Queen Elizabeth II (95) it can be the little things in life that are rare. For example, an inexperienced chat, without any royal reservations on the part of the interlocutors. One of the monarch’s employees has now told the British newspaper “The Times” a particularly charming story. Accordingly, the Queen was on a walk around her holiday residence at Balmoral Castle in Scotland when she was approached by a group of US tourists. And she apparently had no idea that the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain was standing before them.

Has she ever met herself?

Instead of educating the ignorant tourists, the Queen apparently enjoyed the unexpected incognito small talk and allowed herself several jokes. When asked if she lived in the area, she replied that she owned a house nearby. When people wanted to know from her whether she had ever met the Queen, the 95-year-old proved her quick-wittedness, as quoted by “The Sun”: “No, but this police officer has already met you”, Elizabeth II is said to have said and pointed to her company. After talking to the friendly elderly lady, the tourist group finally left unsuspecting.

Queen Elizabeth II spends a few weeks each summer on the Scottish country estate. In 2021 she will have to do it for the first time without her husband – Prince Philip died in April of this year at the age of 99.
