The Queen lives in isolation because of the pandemic, plus the corona restrictions. Who is Elizabeth II celebrating Christmas with?
There are also special corona rules in Great Britain for the Christmas season: up to three households can meet there between December 23 and 27. Queen Elizabeth II (94) will probably set a good example here. But who of her extended family does the monarch invite? After all, the Queen has four children with Prince Charles (72), Princess Anne (70), Prince Andrew (60) and Prince Edward (56). There are also eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Usually the royals meet at the Sandringham, Norfolk estate to exchange Christmas presents and show themselves off to fans on the way to church. Since the beginning of the Corona crisis, however, the Queen has already gone into self-isolation with her husband Prince Philip (99). Christmas will also be different.
Is the Queen celebrating with Edward?
According to the Daily Mail, Prince Edward and his family could be one of the chosen ones and celebrate Christmas with the Queen as one of two additional households. The Queen is said to be particularly close to Edward's wife Sophie (55). According to the report, the most likely solution was that Elizabeth II would celebrate with her heirs to the throne, Prince Charles and Prince William (38). However, there could still be a bigger meeting of the royals. And that with the traditional hunt on Boxing Day.
The Queen could meet family members who could not come to her before, an insider is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying. As an organized outdoor sport, up to 30 people are allowed to come together here, they say. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, 73, usually spend part of the Christmas season with Camilla's children and grandchildren, and William and his wife Kate, 38, regularly visit Kate's parents at Christmas with their three children. For Charles and William, the hunting trip could be a good opportunity to see the monarch and her other relatives.
