Staying up the night to catch Harry and Meghan's TV interview? For Queen Elizabeth II that doesn't seem to be an option.

Royal fans around the world are waiting for the much-discussed "Megxit" interview by Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39) with US talk show host Oprah Winfrey (67) to be broadcast. This is broadcast in the United States on Sunday evening primetime. It seems unlikely that Queen Elizabeth II (94), Harry's grandmother, would stay up to follow the recorded conversation in Great Britain.

The Queen has "quite a lot to do"

The Sunday Times cites a source close to the monarch: Queen Elizabeth II will not watch the interview in person. "You will see next week that Her Majesty has quite a lot to do," she reportedly told the newspaper. "I don't think anyone should expect Her Majesty to stay up and watch the interview. She won't."

The British "Mail on Sunday" reports something similar. It says that palace employees will probably watch the interview online. If it is broadcast in the USA, it is 1:00 a.m. (local time) in the UK. Queen Elizabeth II would finally be informed of the content of the conversation that morning. As can be assumed, Prince Charles, 72, and Duchess Camilla, 73, who are at their country estate, Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.

Meghan's father tunes in

While the Harrys family will probably not sit in front of the televisions during the night, it looks different with Thomas Markle (76), the father of Duchess Meghan. He told the broadcaster RTL: "Of course" he would watch his daughter's interview. He is "as excited as I can be".

"The most important thing," said the 76-year-old, was something else at this moment. The health of Queen husband Prince Philip (99). He has been in the hospital since mid-February and is currently recovering from an operation on his heart. Markle emphasized: "Good thoughts and prayers for Prince Philip" should be the focus today.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's CBS interview will also be shown on German television. On March 8, it will run from 3 p.m. on RTL and from 10:15 p.m. on VOX.
