Various changes to the “Sovereign Grant Report” allow more flexibility for Queen Elizabeth and transfer duties to Prince Charles.

Queen Elizabeth, 96, ascended the throne at just 25 and has been the head of the British monarchy for 70 years. However, with age come limitations that require adjustment to their situation. Now Buckingham Palace has approved a relaxation of their duties.

These are her duties as Queen

As reported by the Telegraph, official duties have been revised for the first time in over a decade. According to the so-called “Sovereign Grant Report”, the Queen has 13 duties that she must fulfill as head of state and nation. This includes, for example, the opening of parliament and the reception and execution of state visits.

There will be changes

The changes ensure that the Queen’s obligations are relaxed, describing them only as a set of parliamentary and diplomatic duties. This new definition offers the Queen a new found flexibility. She will only receive guests and no longer go on state visits herself. She will also be supported by members of the royal family, who will also take on responsibilities on her behalf.

Prince Charles, 73, who attended the State Opening of Parliament in place of his mother earlier this year, will now also carry out other Head of the Nation activities. This includes visits abroad, various award ceremonies and other public appearances. It remains to be seen to what extent the changes to the “Sovereign Grant Report” will affect his reign in the future. It remains to be seen whether the relaxations laid down will be withdrawn or whether they will remain stable in the future.
