There was a real thief among Queen Elizabeth's staff: a catering assistant has admitted to stealing items from Buckingham Palace and selling them on ebay.

As reported by "BBC", Adamo Canto has pleaded guilty to three thefts in court, which he committed between November 2019 and August 2020. The police had previously found a significant amount of items in the royal stables of Buckingham Palace.

Queen Elizabeth was robbed: what was among the stolen goods?

Among other things, Canto stole signed official photos of Prince Harry, Prince William and Duchess Catherine. He also stole medals from Vice Admiral Sir Tony Johnstone-Burt and from former British Army officer Mai Gen Richard Sykes. In addition, a photo album of President Donald Trump's royal banquet in Great Britain was illegally in the hands of Canto. It is also reported that items from the palace shop, staff lockers, the Queen's Gallery shop and Prince Andrew's storage room were among the loot.

What happened to the prey?

This news should not have amused Queen Elizabeth, 94, at all: The things that Canto had stolen were then auctioned off on ebay! According to prosecutor Simon Maughan, the stolen goods had a total value of between $ 13,000 and $ 135,000 – but they sold for much less money. Obviously Canto could not judge how much he should get for his articles, because he is said to have sold a total of 37 items on ebay for "well below" their value. All in all, the 37-year-old is said to have raised $ 10,000 with his raid.

How did Canto get his hands on the palace items?

It is believed that the former royal employee used the corona pandemic to his advantage. During the health crisis, he was given more access to offices and other areas that under normal circumstances he would not have been able to visit as often. Canto is currently on bail – but faces jail sentence.
