The Queen is known for sending messages with her choice of clothes. She chooses a very special piece of jewelry for Prince Philip’s funeral service.

During the funeral of Prince Philip, † 99, all eyes are on Queen Elizabeth, 94. After 73 years of marriage together, she has to say goodbye. For this moment she has chosen a very special piece of jewelry.

Queen Elizabeth: Romantic Message to Prince Philip

For the funeral service, the Queen chooses a black ensemble with a large diamond brooch. The special Richmond brooch is a very special piece of jewelry from the Queen’s collection. It originally came from her grandmother Mary, who received the brooch as a wedding present in 1893. The piece of jewelry is said to be the largest brooch in the Queen’s collection. A teardrop-shaped pearl usually adorns the special piece of jewelry in the middle. However, the Queen removed them for the funeral service.

In the past, Queen Elizabeth has regularly worn the brooch on formal appointments and visits with her husband, Prince Philip. The piece of jewelery also represents the love story of her grandparents – and that of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. In November 2021 they would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary. It seems like the Queen chose the brooch for this very reason. The monarch is known for choosing her clothes very carefully; because with it she expresses messages.

Queen Elizabeth wears a pearl necklace and pearl earrings with the brooch. She very often resorts to such jewelry; they are almost part of their “royal uniform”. Duchess Catherine, 39, and Zara Tindall, 39, also wear pearls to Prince Philip’s funeral. The big chain from Kate also has a very special meaning; it belongs to the Queen. With this she is also paying a great honor to her grandmother-in-law and her deceased grandfather-in-law.
