Queen Mary
3 style lessons we can learn from her
From middle-class life Down Under to magical princess splendor to her coronation in Denmark: Mary has constantly developed. Was that also because of her impeccable style?
Queen Mary: 1. She loves patterns
Queen Mary likes to get to the point – or does she prefer to go on patrol? As an avowed fan of patterns, it doesn’t matter to her. Mary wears exciting and minimalist designs with passion and embeds them in formal sets, like at the reception of the Ukrainian presidential couple in the Knights’ Hall. Mary creates an all-over dot pattern that looks professional and glamorous, but doesn’t look too simple or boring thanks to the circles.
But it can also be really colorful and playful! While she shines from the inside out, she also visually expresses the sunny nonchalance of her native Australia. In September 2016, Mary chooses the full pattern splendor. Her look shows that she not only has mastered royal etiquette, but is also a modern woman with a sense of individuality and joie de vivre. A particular example: Julie Fagerholt Heartmade’s patterned gown. The dress almost looks like the pattern of a butterfly wing thanks to various color elements and blobs and shapes and also inspires Mary to new styling heights.
2. Mary wears more and more: Classic silhouettes
If there is a royal fashion secret formula for appointments of all kinds, it is simple elegance. Mary also masters the classic game of business clothing, which she keeps in muted colors. Fine, flowing dresses made of light fabrics meet suits and elegant turtleneck sweaters with pearl trim. As a representative of the Danish monarchy, she doesn’t stand out too much in these looks, doesn’t steal the stage from important moments, but still shows herself dressed up and chosen. Timeless and reserved pieces form a safe bet.
3. Eye-catching elements: She loves details
Queen Mary loves a twist and likes to choose accessories that make a small difference in style. Whether it’s a handbag in a crocodile look or stylish stilettos with a python design: the Dane gives simple outfits that certain something with her favorite pieces.
Too sexy? Not at all. In combination with sheath or fluttery dresses, her looks are simply brilliant. Mary not only respects the royal traditions, but also brings her very own touch and we can easily incorporate these three lessons into our own wardrobe.
