Queen Mary can’t help but smile – and King Harald is to blame

On the first day of their state visit, King Frederik, 55, and Queen Mary, 52, attend a state banquet. In addition to the Danish monarch, King Harald, 87, also gives a speech. And mentions a topic where Mary in particular can’t help but grin broadly. As the Danish website “Billed-Bladet” quotes, Harald made sure that four important people in the life of the Danish queen were mentioned who stayed in Denmark during her state trips: Frederik and Mary’s children.

“Over the years you have raised four wonderful children together: Christian, Isabella, Vincent and Josephine,” King Harald praised his guests. And further: “The Queen and I are grateful that the close family and friendly ties between our two families will continue to exist in the next generations.”

At this meeting, Prince William breaks an iron rule of the royal family

The British royal family has many clear boundaries, rules and lines of behavior that they strictly adhere to. In addition to internal mottos such as “never complain, never explain” [z. Dt.: niemals beschweren, niemals erklären, Anm. d. Red.] are there external guidelines that must be adhered to. Including that the members of the Royal Family do not comment on political situations. Prince William, 41, has now partially broken this basic principle – which has existed since the introduction of the “Bill of Rights” in December 1689.

During William’s visit to Cornwall he met countless fans, including a Ukrainian woman who struck up a conversation with him. On “X” [ehemals Twitter, Anm. d. Red.] The royal’s conversation with those standing by can be heard – including his reaction when he meets the woman from Ukraine. After the two exchange a few sentences, the woman thanks the prince for his commitment. Prince William replied: “I’m keeping an eye on what’s going on there.” A short statement, but one that has a lot of weight. Members of the British royal family must remain neutral on politics. The monarch is under the control of Parliament.

Prince Harry, 39, and Duchess Meghan, 42, were literally bombarded with negative headlines by the British press in 2020 after they commented on the US election. At that time, the Sussexes had already stepped down from their roles – but it was still seen as an affront to the family. Things seem different with William. He is praised for his empathy.

Princess Sofia on hard times: “Challenges, bullying and prejudice”

Your heart is in the right place. Princess Sofia, 39, has known what it means to struggle with prejudice since her relationship with Prince Carl Philip, 45, became known. At that time she received a lot of hate, especially because of her modeling and television past. This is perhaps why the Royal and her husband have been campaigning against bullying and hate speech with their own foundation since their wedding in June 2015. Now the Royal has once again raised her voice to the public in the fight against evil harassment. Together with her loved one, she was one of the guests of honor at “Catwalk Live”, an event where members of the theater group “Glada Hudik” could try out as models. The actors are exclusively people with intellectual disabilities.

In their speech, the daughter-in-law and son of King Carl Gustaf, 78, and Queen Silvia, 80, emphasized how important it is to be yourself and to “shine,” according to “Svensk Damtidning.” On the sidelines of the event, Sofia explained in an interview with TV4: “This is a manifestation to eliminate stigma and increase understanding for children and young people with disabilities,” and continued: “It’s a kind of revenge, because they speak about all the challenges, the bullying and the prejudice they faced. And then they hear that cheer. That touches you too.”

“Catwalk Live” is the subject of a documentary film scheduled for release this summer. The royal couple will also make a statement and appear there.

Prince Philip + Princess Danica: Private insight into their daughter’s christening ceremony

In November 2023, Hereditary Prince Philip of Serbia, 42, and Princess Danica, 38, became parents for the second time. On May 11th, her daughter Princess Marija was baptized in Belgrade. The couple shared a joint post on Instagram that included pictures from the ceremony.

Of course it is little Marija who attracts everyone’s attention. The little girl seems to have taken part in the ceremony in a relaxed manner. In her long, lace-trimmed baptismal dress, she skillfully poses on her mother’s arm and on her godfather’s arm. For this important role, Danica and Philip chose none other than Nicholas of Romania, 39, and his wife Alina Maria Binder, 36. The Romanian ex-prince also proudly shared some photos of the meeting in Serbia on his Instagram profile.

Princess Marija, who impresses in every photo with her big eyes and a gentle smile, was wrapped in a special piece of clothing. “Princess Marija wore at her baptism a Chantilly lace dress that belonged to Amelia of Orléans, sister of the Infanta Louise of Orléans, grandmother of Princess Maria da Gloria, mother of Crown Prince Philippe. It was kept at the Villamanrique Castle near Seville” says the social media post. The guest list for the christening party included some royal members. In addition to the Serbian royal family and the Romanian godparents, Albert von Thurn und Taxis, 40, was also invited. Marija, like her brother, was baptized in the Chapel of Saint Andrew the Apostle on the grounds of the Royal Castle on Dedinje in Belgrade.
