Quentin Tarantino has had a profound impact on the cinema of recent decades, with his characteristic style made up of chiseled dialogues and numerous references to popular culture, with a certain penchant for scenes of violence, the origin of which can perhaps be traced in the first two films that deeply marked the director in his childhood: Délivrance and La Horde Sauvage.

A cinephilia made up of westerns, Kung-Fu films, and exploitation films, which “QT” was able to forge during his five years working at Vidéo Archives during his adolescence, a video rental shop where he also discover the treasures of French new wave cinema.

He took his first steps as a screenwriter in the 80s, writing two screenplays that he was unable to produce, and which he therefore had to sell reluctantly. The first, True Romance, will be directed by Tony Scott in 1993, while the second, Born Killers will be taken over by Oliver Stone. But it took more to discourage the young Tarantino, who gets back to work and lays the script for the future Reservoir Dogs in a few weeks. A first feature film that owes a lot to the involvement of actor Harvey Keitel, who after receiving the script, agreed to play in the film, and to become co-producer.

Public and critical success was there, the director’s career was launched, and for his second film, Pulp Fiction, he was awarded the prestigious Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Eight other feature films will follow, until the very last Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, of which an extended version of four hours could see the light of day on the Netflix platform soon.
