After a year and a half of existence, 27 free updates and over 470 games optimized across all Meta Quest, HQ finally passes into adulthood and frees itself from the umbilical cord which until then prevented it from becoming the essential application for everyone: the mandatory activation – via a PC or a smartphone – of the service ADB each time the headset is restarted VR.
The developer Anagan79 had announced that one day, getting rid of the USB cable to activate the famous ADB (Android Debug Bridge) at the start of the helmet would be something possible, since the Meta Quest upgrade to Android 10. He didn’t lie! We recently upgraded to Android 12L with the arrival of the update V51which opened up the field of possibilities.
It is therefore with great joy that GAMERGEN.COMcounting the developer among its writers, announces today that the new free update stamped v7.0.0 is ready and marks a major turning point in the history of the application! After months of exploring to find the miracle solution, experimenting and sharing with the community various more or less practical solutions, we could see in a tangible way THE possibility that one day or another HQ no longer depends on a cable when starting the helmet. The task was not easy and Anagan79 got help from the developer thedroidgeek to touch the holy grail. Unity is strength, there is no doubt.
The video in the article offers a summary of the possibilities offered by the application in version v7.0.0, as well as its installation and use. Once the connection ADB wireless enabled and permissions accepted inside the headset, HQ can now activate the service on its own each time the headset is restarted ADB without going through the cable as was the case until then. This means that it is no longer useful to leave the headset on standby so as not to lose ADB. Attention however, it is necessary to connect the helmet and to activate ADB old fashioned at least once (HQ will tell you if this is not the case), so that everything falls into place. Then, each time the headset is restarted, it will be enough to accept the authorization by opening HQ.
This new version also brings some new features such as a direct link to the FAQs or even the contributorsan orange/red theme, the display of the email account in the general settings, the removal of the option Adaptive refresh rate (broken with the V54 of Meta) and removing the mode Free trial versionbecause the app is now mature and sort of out of phase early access.
