Queue in the toilet – victim to the “crown”: “I felt a pinch!”

A Grazer had to experience a real nightmare on Monday when going to the toilet in the morning: The 65-year-old was bitten by a snake that had crawled into his toilet – krone.at reported! He was slightly injured in the genital area, the shock runs deep. The matter will have consequences for the reptile owner who is his neighbor.

“That was a horror experience,” hissed Erhard Walter in an interview with the “Krone”. The 65-year-old had sat down on the toilet in the morning: “Suddenly I felt a pinch in the genital area.” He jumped up – and couldn’t believe his eyes: he had been bitten by a snake!

The reptile expert Werner Stangl was called for help. “The animal tensed all of its muscles and pressed itself against the pipe,” he reports. In the end, he managed to pull the snake out of the toilet. It turned out to be a meter and a half long albino reticulated python – a strangler snake that is not venomous.

Walter was brought to the LKH Graz by the ambulance. There he was treated on an outpatient basis, then he was allowed to go home again. According to the circumstances, he is doing well, the snake just missed the “Holy of Holies”, thank God, the victim was relieved.

It came through the drainpipes
The question is: How did she get into his loo in the first place? It belongs to Walter’s neighbors, who, according to the police, keeps a total of eleven non-toxic strangler snakes and a gecko as pets in his apartment. Usually they are housed in terrariums and their own drawers. The python, however, apparently somehow escaped and got into Walter’s apartment via the sewer pipes.

He and his neighbor know each other well, he also knew about his passion for snakes. The Grazer would surely have preferred it if the animal hadn’t haunted him.

Charge of assault
The 24-year-old owner was charged with negligent assault. In addition, the incident was reported to the Graz building and plant authorities, which will check whether he had complied with all the regulations on keeping queues.
