Who doesn’t know it? You put on foundation, concealer and the like neatly and after a short time the opposite of what we wanted to achieve happens: the make-up falls off and also accentuates the lines on our face. It’s good that we have a few tips and tricks ready with which we can iron the wrinkled skin optically a bit smooth.

Whether you want to remove make-up or simply conceal it well: we’ll give you short, crisp tips that will make your skin look even despite make-up and not settle into expression lines and wrinkles.

1. Preparation is everything

Stop, stop, stop! Before you even reach for a make-up product, you should first prepare your skin for it. The key word here is moisture. With a primer under the make-up, the skin is optimally cared for. At the same time, the face appears soft and plumped up. Of course, you can also use a primer that also contains anti-aging ingredients. Means: foundation and concealer don’t settle into the wrinkles as quickly and last longer throughout the day.

2. Less is more

Of course, a high-coverage make-up often has the advantage that pimples and bumps are concealed. But beware! If you use make-up with a thick consistency, it can happen that it looks pasty on the face and does not make the structure of your skin more even, but has the opposite effect and wrinkles even come to the fore. You can never go wrong with a light, liquid texture. If you still want to cover up individual areas of your face, a concealer is your best friend.

3. Optical illusion

Speaking of concealer: you can really make-up away with it. It is important to choose the right color nuance. The concealer should always be slightly lighter than your actual skin tone. The easiest way is to apply it to the areas you want to cover up with a make-up sponge. This can be, for example, the often unloved nasolabial fold. Pat in well and bang: the wrinkle depth is optically reduced.

4. Sometimes distraction helps

No matter how hard you try, sometimes visible wrinkles are unavoidable. We’re getting older, there’s nothing we can do about it. Nevertheless, we can get the best out of what Mother Nature has given us and then we can reach into our bag of tricks. Distraction is the key to happiness – after all, that’s how magicians do it. Simply direct the focus away from the skin and towards the eyes, for example. You can let off steam with the colors or you can go for classic shades of brown and richly mascaraed eyelashes – the combo always works.

5. Don’t give a fuck!

Now, let’s cut it: We all get wrinkles, some in our early 20s, others a little later. No one will be blessed with youthful, smooth skin forever without doing a thing or two. The most important thing is therefore to accept the skin as it is – with its ups and downs. If you feel comfortable with the make-up, that’s exactly what you will radiate – with or without wrinkles. So here comes the most important tip for you: develop a shit attitude, after all we all have a lot more to offer than just wrinkle-free skin. And with the right charisma, every make-up shines.
