At 79, Robert De Niro is about to join the cast of the Mr. Natural series. In addition, the artist connects series projects. On Dec. 1, The Hollywood Reporter announced that the actor had accepted the lead role in a Netflix miniseries titled Zero Day, from Narcos showrunner Eric Newman.
A political thriller in which De Niro will play a former president. And the famous comedian is not ready to stop there since Variety has revealed that he will produce and star in the drama series Mr. Natural. Robert De Niro will play Louis “Mr. Natural” Baron, a former criminal coming out of a 30-year stay in federal prison.
Once he is free, he goes to Palm Springs, to join his family but also to try to get his hands on the billions of lithium in the Salton Sea. Created by Mitch Glazer (Magic City), this project is envisaged as a series made up of several seasons.
For the moment, no television channel or streaming platform is attached to it. Both of Robert de Niro’s projects are still in development, but if either is successful, it will be the comedian’s first regular television role. As for Al Pacino, we recently saw him in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci.
