Sweaty hands, smoking heads: On Tuesday, thousands of schoolchildren in the canton of Zurich will be writing their high school exams. The tasks are difficult, many of them will not pass the test.
What is expected of secondary school students should be easily solvable for adults – one might think. Is that really the case? Test your knowledge of German, Mathematics and French in the quiz below.
By the way, we didn’t come up with the questions ourselves. They are all from last year’s exam.

We start with the German exam. Determine whether the following sentences are in present tense or future tense and whether they are in active or passive form.

We switch to mathematics. Solve the equation for x.
14 + (−11 − 4x) = 3 − 6(x + 2)
A car drives from A via B to C. The average fuel consumption on the journey from A to C is 6 liters per 100 km. On the 40 km from A to B, the car consumes 2 liters of petrol.
Calculate how much petrol the car uses on the 80 km from B to C.
The gray triangle ABD has an area of 30 cm2. The remaining dimensions can be found in the labeling of the illustration, which is not true to scale.
Calculate the length x.
