It’s Monday that the long-awaited season 2 of “House of the Dragon” begins on Max. Before meeting all the protagonists, we offer you this quiz reviewing some of the highlights of season 1. SPOILERS BEWARE!
It was more than ten years ago: on April 17, 2011, the HBO channel broadcast in the United States the very first episode of its new series Game of Thrones, which would soon create a shock wave on the entire planet, becoming in a few days a true global phenomenon.
By transposing to the screen the fantasy universe created by George RR Martin a few years earlier with his series of novels – a world where royal families, power games, violence and betrayals reign, all sprinkled with numerous fantastic elements – the showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss (who recently proposed a new series) have succeeded in bringing to life one of the flagship series of recent decades.
A phenomenal success which had managed to keep spectators in suspense for eight seasons, and as many years, could only whet the appetite of the producers, who a few years after the long-awaited outcome, proposed a sequel, or more precisely a prequel to Game of Thrones, with the House of the Dragon series in 2022.
Because this second series, a new adaptation of a novel by George RR Martin, Fire and Blood, takes place 172 years before the birth of Daenerys, one of the key characters of GoT, and looks back on the history of the Targaryen family and its King Viserys who then reigns over Westeros. But without male offspring the question arises of who will take over, and the numerous suitors will soon develop the most Machiavellian plans to take over.
And while the Targaryens have dominated the Kingdom of the Seven Kingdoms for a long time, the only power capable of overthrowing them is House Targaryen itself. Will the tensions, betrayals and jealousies that shake the clan internally be fatal to them?
