Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler can’t go to the Oscars: The “West Side Story” star didn’t get a ticket.

The film “West Side Story” has been nominated for an Oscar in several categories this year. However, Rachel Zegler (20), who plays Maria in the musical strip, is not invited. She shared on Instagram the sad news in the comment column under her latest post. Over a series of photos from the past three months, one fan wrote that they can’t wait to see the actress’ Oscar outfit. To which she replied: “I’m not invited, so sweatpants and flannel from my friend”.

Zegler would have tried to get a ticket to this year’s Oscars. After fans expressed their condolences, the 20-year-old replied: “I’ve tried everything but it doesn’t seem to be happening”. She would be cheering on “West Side Story” from her couch. She is also proud of the work she and her colleagues put into the film three years ago. Nevertheless, she does not give up hope: “I hope that a miracle will happen at the last minute and that I can celebrate our film personally,” she writes. The Oscar ceremony will take place on March 27 this year and will be moderated by Regina Hall (51), Amy Schumer (40) and Wanda Sykes (58).

“West Side Story” is a big part of the Oscars

Steven Spielberg’s (75) “West Side Story” competes with “The Power of the Dog” and “CODA” in the category “Best Picture” for a golden boy. The strip received six other nominations, including Best Director and Best Supporting Actress for Ariana DeBose (31). While Zegler isn’t nominated for an Oscar, she won a Golden Globe for her performance as Maria.
