Jens Lehmann called Dennis Aogo a “quota black”. The Sky expert explains that he accepts an apology from the ex-goalkeeper.

In the racism scandal surrounding Jens Lehmann (51), Sky expert Dennis Aogo (34) accepts an apology from the former national soccer goalkeeper. This is what Aogo said on May 5th in an Instagram story. Previously, he had published a private WhatsApp message from Lehmann there, in which he was referred to as a “quota black man”.

Lehmann later confirmed on Twitter that the message came from him. “In a private message from my cell phone to Dennis Aogo, an impression was created for which I apologized in conversation with Dennis”, explained the 51-year-old among other things. Aogo now commented on the incident. He had already phoned Lehmann twice today. “I accept his apology,” says Aogo in the clip.

“I didn’t like what he wrote”

Aogo continues: “I didn’t like what he wrote. I didn’t like the wording either. I also find it somewhat disrespectful because you don’t write something like that, no matter who the message was addressed to.” The 34-year-old also explains that everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second chance. Aogo thinks it’s “also not right that everyone pounces on him now”. He took Lehmann off that he was sorry. The topic is “done” for him and he wants to meet with him as soon as possible to get the whole thing out of the world.

Ina Aogo (32), the wife of the Sky expert, had also previously raised the matter voiced in an Instagram story. Her husband was “also disappointed in human terms” by Lehmann. And further: “Sometimes I am really ashamed that I am German when I see how some behave.” People should “just try that we all get on better with each other”.

Regardless of this, Lehmann’s employer reacted immediately. “Jens Lehmann’s contract will be terminated with immediate effect. This means that the mandate on the supervisory board will no longer apply” from Hertha BSC Berlin, says Andreas Fritzenkötter, spokesman for club investor Tennor, quoted by “Welt”.
