Radio Liberty producer killed in Kyiv

KYIV, April 29 (Reuters) – Ukrainian rescue workers found the body of a Radio Liberty producer under the rubble of a building in Kyiv hit by a missile on Friday, the US media said.

Radio Liberty said in a statement that Vira Hyrych, who had worked in their Kyiv office since February 2018, was killed after a Russian rocket hit the building she lived in.

It is the first death recorded following the missile strike on Thursday, when the UN chief was visiting Kyiv. Ukrainian officials said two Russian missiles hit the capital. Russia did not comment on the event.

At least 10 people were injured in the strike and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitchko said a body was found on Friday. (Report Natalia Zinets, written by Tom Balmforth; French version Valentine Baldassari, edited by Kate Entringer)
