In recent days, the Polish railway system has been the victim of an attack by radio waves, which led to a shutdown for several hours.

Attacks against a country’s infrastructure are becoming more frequent. After the banks, the hospitals and the maritime sector, it is the turn of the railway traffic to have to undergo these attacks, as it was recently the case in Poland.

Polish trains shut down

It’s a funny misadventure that just happened to rail traffic in northwestern Poland. According to information from the Polish press agency, taken up by the BBC, hackers carried out an attack on Saturday August 26 by radio waves thanks to which they were able to forge an emergency stop signal.

As a result, the trains around the city of Szczecin, around twenty in total, had to be stopped for several hours, according to the authorities. The question of the origin of these attacks has since arisen. It should be noted that Poland is an important transit territory for the passage of Western weapons destined for Ukraine.

Russia on the move?

This remark is not insignificant when it is coupled with another fact. The pirate radio waves emitted by the hackers were indeed interspersed with pieces of the Russian anthem and excerpts from a speech by Vladimir Putin. Is this enough to point the accusations towards Russia, a country with which Poland regularly experiences friction?

For the moment, we do not exclude anything says senior security official Stanisław Żaryn. He added that destabilization operations had been carried out for several months now against Poland, “ attempts undertaken by the Russian Federation in collaboration with Belarus “, according to him. Poland’s Internal Security Agency is currently conducting the investigation in order to get early answers.
