MSI announced yesterday, on the occasion of CES 2023, a whole new armada of portable PCs intended for gamers, but also for creative people and mobility enthusiasts. Here is an anthology of the most interesting announcements from the Taiwanese manufacturer.

13 Core processorse generation, RTX 4000… You know the tune as well as we do. It is indeed no surprise that MSI, like its many competitors, updates the vast majority of its gaming laptops by installing the latest components from Intel and NVIDIA. The manufacturer is thus refreshing its different ranges by bringing drastic new features to a few models… and by varying the pleasures from one device to another.

Titan GT77 HX: the chunky beast… that gets a little thinner

Let’s start with the brute of service: the Titan GT77. Present at MSI for a few years, the device was considerably refined last year to become much more “transportable” than the old models. This year, the machine continues on this line by adopting as a bonus a brand new Mini-LED, 4K and 144 Hz, 17.3-inch screen (1,000 nits and 100% DCI-P3 as a bonus). A first on the market, assured MSI ahead of CES. The device can also count on a low-profile mechanical keyboard designed by Cherry. It is also very pleasant to use, and we had already encountered it in a slightly different form on the Alienware m15 R4 last year.

Under the hood of this refined titan (only 23 mm thick for 3.3 kg), we find for the rest a colossal Core i9-13980HX coupled with a maximum of 128 GB of DDR5 as well as an RTX 4090 or 4080 , depending on the chosen configuration. The storage is based on two M2 PCIe Gen 4 ports and one PCIe Gen 5 slot, which can be practically configured at will.

Raider GE78/GE68: more power and a whole new look

Entirely redesigned this year, the Raider returns to MSI in two versions of 17.3 and 16 inches (GE78 and GE68) equipped with a maximum of Intel Core i9-13980HX processors for the first and i9-13950HX for the second. On the GPU side, the 17.3-inch model can count on RTX 4070, 4080 or 4090, while the 16-inch model is armed with the choice of RTX 4060 or 4070. In both cases, we can find up to 64 GB of DDR5 and a SSD in PCIe Gen 5.

In terms of screen, the large model will go up to an IPS QHD + panel, 240 Hz and 100% DCI-P3. The 16-inch model will be able to carry an IPS Ultra HD+ 120 Hz and 100% DCI-P3 screen, or a QHD+ 240 Hz and 100% DCI-P3 IPS panel. Whichever option you choose, MSI switches to a 16:10 format. A great step forward when the previous model was still restricted to an aging and not always practical 16:9 ratio.

Cyborg 15: a nice rival for the TUF Gaming F15

More affordable and designed to bring healthy competition to models like the ASUS TUF Gaming F15, the Cyborg 15 is moving forward… but with components that are not necessarily brand new. Despite RTX 4050 or 4060 under the hood, the device is indeed content with Intel processors of 12e generation to reduce costs. It is therefore necessary to be satisfied with a maximum of a Core i7-12650H, coupled with a maximum of 64 GB of DDR5. There is still plenty to do, but with a little less CPU power than some direct competitors.

The device also relies on a relatively sober chassis, adorned with some translucent parts that are quite fun to watch, especially on the sides and back. On the screen side, nothing extravagant this time: we stay on a very classic 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panel, capable of going up to 144 Hz.

Stealth 14 Studio and Stealth 16 Studio: for stylish gamers and creatives

MSI is also taking advantage of CES to renew and even develop its Stealth range. The Stealth 14 Studio and 16 Studio are there to seduce gamers and creatives looking for an elegant and thin machine, capable of developing solid performance without being too bulky.

As its name suggests, the Stealth 14 Studio is a 14-inch ultraportable with either a QHD+ 240 Hz and 100% DCI-P3 IPS screen, or a Full HD+ 165 Hz and 100% sRGB panel, in 4:10 p.m. anyway. With 19 mm thick and 1.7 kg, the device is close to the size of a classic ultraportable, but it still manages to integrate up to a Core i7-13700H coupled to a maximum of 64 GB. GPU side , we have the choice between the RTX 4050, 4060 or 4070. Something to talk about the powder in an ultra compact format.

In 16 inches this time, the Stealth 16 Studio remains just as elegant and not much thicker (21.55 mm for 1.99 kg). There is an IPS Ultra HD + 120 Hz and 100% DCI-P3 panel, or a QHD + 140 Hz and 100% DCI-P3 screen. Both of these options are equally suited to gamers and content creators. Inside the sleek chassis of the machine, there is up to a Core i9-13900H coupled to a maximum of 64 GB of DDR5. And graphically, there are two options to choose from: RTX 4060 or 4070. Clean, crisp and efficient.

Prestige 13 EVO: the classy ultraportable by MSI

Finally, for users who prioritize autonomy and mobility above all else, MSI has announced its Prestige 13 EVO. No dedicated GPU in this case or CPU with brainless power, but rather a “simple” Core i7-1360P supported by 16 GB of LPDDR5.

The device relies for the rest on a 13.3-inch Full HD + and 100% sRGB screen, in 16:10 format, capable of displaying a maximum brightness of 400 nits. The set fits in a 16.9 mm thick chassis for only 990 g. Finally, on the battery side, we are quite well equipped for this template with an announced capacity of 75 Wh.
