Rain on December 24th – the last “Christmas snow” melts away quietly

Two-digit plus degrees and heavy rain await us on December 24th. At least Christmas Eve should be reasonably dry. On the first day after Christmas it gets colder again.

The last glimmer of hope for a “White Christmas” has probably died out in North Tyrol in areas below 800 meters. But that’s not all. Meteorologist Michele Salmi from the UBIMET weather service promises additional adversity from above for today and December 24: “It will rain, the rainfall can also be quite heavy.” Snow only at high altitudes It is surprising that the precipitation in the valleys will fall in the form of rain whether the predicted temperatures of ten plus degrees – or even a little more in the valleys – not. “There is probably only snow above 1500 to 1700 meters,” regrets the meteorologist. East Tyrol is preferred. South of the Felbertauern it should be dry on Friday and Saturday, so the East Tyroleans will retain the snow cover that is even found in the valleys. A mild “White Christmas” is in store here. The rain spook in North Tyrol is coming to an end in the course of December 24th, according to Salmi it will dry off in the evening. So the Christmas night could at least be dry.Sunny Christmas DayOn Christmas Day we can expect a clear calming of the weather, during the day the sun will prevail – with temperatures remaining mild. St. Stephen’s Day also remains mild and sunny. Towards the evening on Monday, of course, it started to rain from the west in North Tyrol. The snow line is around 1,500 meters. Punctually one day after Christmas, “normal” temperatures should set in – temporarily.
